The Belfast Sewer project is a £100m project to construct a 9.4km tunnel under the city of Belfast. It will provide Belfast with a modern sewerage and storm water infrastructure and is dependant upon a terminal pumping station located at Duncrue Road, Belfast. Northern Ireland Water (NIW) awarded Powerteam the turnkey construction contract (including civil engineering works) for their new 33/11kV and 11/3.3kV substation in Belfast that powers the drilling equipment underpinning this project. Scope of works:
In late 2006 Digital Realty Trust(DRT), who provide data farms in 26 countries, awarded Powerteam the electrical contract for their new 110/10kV substation in Clonshaugh, Dublin. Scope of works comprised:
This is a prestigious project and is DRT’s first in Ireland. It was delivered to an extremely tight timescale in early 2008.
Following an increase in production and the subsequent load requirements Powerteam were appointed to design, supply, install and commission an extended HV network covering new HV switchboard, transformers and significant LV and HV cables. In addition Powerteam installed two synchronising generators for peak-lopping and emergency back-up by Wright Bus Ltd.
In 2005 Powerteam was appointed by the Department of Finance and Personnel as the specialist contractor to maintain all the high voltage electrical distribution equipment in both the Stormont and Newforge Lane government buildings estates for two years. In addition Powerteam provided emergency return-to-service cover for both estates.
Powerteam assisted with the high voltage electrical design and undertook all procurement, installation and commissioning of the high voltage electrical equipment and cables at the £320m Victoria Square retail development in Belfast. The main items of equipment procured and installed included: 11kV main switchboard, eight cast resins transformers, nine 11kV ring main units and 1,200m of XPLE/LSF cable. Powerteam also installed high voltage Circuit Protective Conductor (CPC) and provided fault level and grading studies, together with providing follow-on equipment maintenance for a period of 5 years.
