Home > Key Facts KEY FACTS Powerteam Electrical Services (Powerteam) is the power utility contracting division of Viridian Group Ltd. Until December 2006 Viridian Group was listed on the London and Dublin stock exchanges with a market capitalisation of approximately £1b. In December 2006 Viridian Group was acquired by Arcapita Bank. Viridian Group employs 1,500 staff and has assets under their control of approximately £1b. Powerteam’s turnover has seen controlled growth over recent years. Initial business focus was on developing our presence in the Republic of Ireland market. While still focusing on this market we have since 2005 grown our presence in the GB market to the extent that it now represents approximately 75% of our turnover. Headquartered in Belfast and with offices in Dundee and Benson (Oxfordshire) we employ experienced and highly skilled staff that provide total solutions covering the design of innovative electrical infrastructure systems (for overhead lines, substations, windfarms and private HV networks), the procurement of electrical equipment and its installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance. All work is carried out to ISO 9001:2000 quality standards. Powerteam currently employ in excess of 120 staff with a further 50 subcontractors under our direct control. We are a sister company of Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) which operates the transmission and distribution system in Northern Ireland, and Viridian Power and Energy which generates and supplies electricity to commercial customers in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. In 2006 Powerteam was one of the first utility contracting companies to be awarded OHSAS 18001 accreditation. Additionally we are an Achilles UVDB Verify accredited company. All accreditations – ISO, OHSAS and UVDB Verify are subject to regular reviews by external accrediting agency.
