ESB 110kV Framework Contract 2009-2011

Contract for the new construction of 110kV substations throughout Ireland.

Scope of work includes the following:

  • Project management, including PSCS/PICW responsibility
  • 110kV, 38kV and 20kV outdoor bays (AIS and GIS) including erection of steelwork, busbars, circuit breakers, disconnectors, CT’s, VT’s, surge arrestors, 110kV and 38kV transformers, ASC’s, neutral earthing resistors, capacitor banks and reactors, plus associated cables and protection and control systems
  • 38kV indoor GIS switchboards including associated cables and protection and control systems
  • 20kV indoor switchboards including associated cables and protection and control systems
  • Earthing, telecoms and SCADA systems
  • Building services, fire and intruder alarm systems, battery systems and auxiliary supplies.
  • Testing & Pre-Commissioning to handover to ESB, and provision of commissioning assistance.

Projects completed to date:

Kildonan (extension to Finglas), Dublin (2009):

  • 110kV HIS switchgear consisting of 2 x 110kV line bays, 2 x 100kV transformer bays and 1 x 110kV sectionaliser bay

Cushaling, Edenderry, Co. Offaly (2009):

  • 110kV AIS extension bay to existing substation for the new IPP peaking power plant
  • Additions to the control & protection system

Projects on-going:

Cherrywood, Co. Dublin (2010):

  • 110kV HIS switchgear consisting of 3 x 110kV line bays, 4 x 110kV transformer bays and 1 x 110kV sectionaliser bay
  • Protection, control and auxiliary a.c. and d.c. systems

Shannonbridge, Co. Roscommon (2010):

  • 110kV AIS switchgear consisting of 2 x 110kV line bays and 1 x 100kV transformer bays
  • Protection, control and auxiliary a.c. and d.c. systems

Thornsberry, Edenderry, Co. Offaly (2010):

  • 110kV AIS extension bay to existing substation
  • Additions to the control & protection system
