Initially based in our Perth office in Scotland, (but working throughout Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI) as required, the successful applicant will provide a general Quantity Surveying service for our windfarm, substation and Overhead projects in GB.

The position involves:

• Working as part of the Commercial team interfacing on a regular basis with our Operations , Finance and Engineering departments and other support functions based in our Head Office in Belfast.
• Working directly with local project sites and Project / Site  Managers to ensure optimum delivery of projects

The Role

The successful applicant will ensure the following duties are carried out:

Preparation and agreement of Bill of Quantities’ (BOQ’s) for both the civil and electrical scope of works with client.

Preparation and agreement of variations for both the civil and electrical works with client.

Preparation of valuation claims based on the milestone payments set up by client.

Ensure that a detailed measure of works completed is maintained on an ongoing basis.

Apply stringent commercial awareness when splitting these milestone payments to ensure that cash flow is maximised.

Timely submission of cost/value reconciliations

Attendance at meetings as required

Manage sub-contractor valuations and associated payments

Maintain labour resource scheduling in conjunction with the Project Managers.

Maintain accurate cost reporting systems and associated projections

Preparation of all final account documentation

Provide technical support and problem solving in relation to civil and construction design and installation processes.

Maintain effective control of Acconex computer system for document control between PESL, Client, designers and subcontractors.

Assist in developing and improving all relevant IT reporting and control systems within your sphere of operation.

Essential

A third level qualification in Quantity Surveying with a minimum of at least two years post qualification experience preferably in a construction environment with a civil engineering bias.

Highly IT literate with experience of applying general / specialist packages within QS context.

Previous experience of negotiating and interpreting conditions of contract.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.

A strong commercial focus with an ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Ability to use initiative to develop new approaches and improve systems.

The flexibility and adaptability to succeed within a demanding business with high levels of motivation and evidence of being a self starter.

Good decision making and problem solving skills and the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.

Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and be able to negotiate and use conflict resolution skills where appropriate.

A flexible / adaptable approach to job role, working away from home when required and to a fast changing business environment.

Access to a form of transport to meet the requirements of the role, with the flexibility to travel throughout the UK when required.

This position is based in Scotland with travel as required throughout GB and Ireland.

The Role

 Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager the HSE Engineer will be responsible for advising on all Safety matters, covering a range of projects principally across Scotland and the North of England, ensuring that the highest standards of operational safety are maintained at all times.

Duties include:

• Conducting project audits
• Promoting relevant safety campaigns and initiatives
• Incident investigation and safety inspections
• Assisting in the collection, monitoring and distribution of relevant safety information

To be considered for this position you must have:

• Health & Safety experience, preferably within the energy sector or construction industry
• A general or construction-related NEBOSH certificate
• Sound working knowledge of relevant safety legislation and procedures
• Working knowledge of electrical networks and associated plant and equipment
• Experience in compiling project HSE plans and documentation
• Experience in managing compliance with CDM 2007
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office

 Although not essential, a sound working knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 would be an advantage to your application.  A HND, degree or other qualification in a safety-related discipline would also be beneficial.
