<p>Initially based in our Perth office in Scotland, (but working throughout Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI) as required, the successful applicant will provide a general Quantity Surveying service for our windfarm, substation and Overhead projects in GB.</p>
<p>The position involves:</p>
<ul>
<li>Working as part of the Commercial team interfacing on a regular basis with our Operations , Finance and Engineering departments and other support functions based in our Head Office in Belfast.</li>
<li>Working directly with local project sites and Project / Site  Managers to ensure optimum delivery of projects</li>
</ul>
<p><strong> The Role</strong></p>
<p>The successful applicant will ensure the following duties are carried out:</p>
<p>Preparation and agreement of Bill of Quantities’ (BOQ’s) for both the civil and electrical scope of works with client.</p>
<p>Preparation and agreement of variations for both the civil and electrical works with client.</p>
<p>Preparation of valuation claims based on the milestone payments set up by client.</p>
<p>Ensure that a detailed measure of works completed is maintained on an ongoing basis.</p>
<p>Apply stringent commercial awareness when splitting these milestone payments to ensure that cash flow is maximised.</p>
<p>Timely submission of cost/value reconciliations</p>
<p>Attendance at meetings as required</p>
<p>Manage sub-contractor valuations and associated payments</p>
<p>Maintain labour resource scheduling in conjunction with the Project Managers.</p>
<p>Maintain accurate cost reporting systems and associated projections</p>
<p>Preparation of all final account documentation</p>
<p>Provide technical support and problem solving in relation to civil and construction design and installation processes.</p>
<p>Maintain effective control of Acconex computer system for document control between PESL, Client, designers and subcontractors.</p>
<p>Assist in developing and improving all relevant IT reporting and control systems within your sphere of operation.</p>
<p><strong>Essential </strong></p>
<p>A third level qualification in Quantity Surveying with a minimum of at least two years post qualification experience preferably in a construction environment with a civil engineering bias.</p>
<p>Highly IT literate with experience of applying general / specialist packages within QS context.</p>
<p>Previous experience of negotiating and interpreting conditions of contract.</p>
<p>Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.</p>
<p>A strong commercial focus with an ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.</p>
<p>Ability to use initiative to develop new approaches and improve systems.</p>
<p>The flexibility and adaptability to succeed within a demanding business with high levels of motivation and evidence of being a self starter.</p>
<p>Good decision making and problem solving skills and the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.</p>
<p>Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and be able to negotiate and use conflict resolution skills where appropriate.</p>
<p>A flexible / adaptable approach to job role, working away from home when required and to a fast changing business environment.</p>
<p>Highly motivated with strong levels of accountability and ownership.</p>
<p>Access to a form of transport to meet the requirements of the role, with the flexibility to travel throughout the UK when required.</p>
<p>A working knowledge of Standard forms of Contract</p>
<p><strong>Desirable</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong>An understanding or awareness of the electrical contracting industry or broader utility environment would be advantageous.</p>
<p><strong>General</strong></p>
<p>This position is based in Scotland with travel as required throughout GB and Ireland.</p>
<p>In addition, it is a requirement that all Powerteam employees ensure compliance within the confines of the role to all aspects of the Powerteam Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and procedures including this specifically related to external accreditations including OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and the Notational Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS).</p>

<li>The exceptional delivery of Projects / Programmes of work to the highest standards of safety and quality within budget and on time.</li>

<p>The Belfast based company designs, constructs and project manages electrical infrastructure projects for companies in England, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.</p>
<p>According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), Powerteam has demonstrated excellence in their ongoing commitment to preventing accidents and ensuring robust occupational health and safety management systems. The company was presented with the RoSPA Gold Award at a recent ceremony in Glasgow.</p>

We now seek an experienced and professional Safety Engineer to achieve future growth targets.</p>
<h2><strong>The Role</strong></h2>
<p> Reporting to the Health &amp; Safety Manager the HSE Engineer will be responsible for advising on all Safety matters, covering a range of projects principally across Scotland and the North of England, ensuring that the highest standards of operational safety are maintained at all times.</p>
<p>Duties include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Conducting project audits</li>
<li>Promoting relevant safety campaigns and initiatives</li>
<li>Incident investigation and safety inspections</li>
<li>Assisting in the collection, monitoring and distribution of relevant safety information</li>
</ul>
<p>To be considered for this position you must have:</p>
<ul>
<li>Health &amp; Safety experience, preferably within the energy sector or construction industry</li>
<li>A general or construction-related NEBOSH certificate</li>
<li>Sound working knowledge of relevant safety legislation and procedures</li>
<li>Working knowledge of electrical networks and associated plant and equipment</li>
<li>Experience in compiling project HSE plans and documentation</li>
<li>Experience in managing compliance with CDM 2007</li>
<li>Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office</li>
</ul>
<p> Although not essential, a sound working knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 would be an advantage to your application.  A HND, degree or other qualification in a safety-related discipline would also be beneficial.<br />
The salary and benefits package associated with this position will be on a Personal Contract basis and will be commensurate with a position at this level.</p>

To facilitate continued growth and development in our Overhead Lines divisions Powerteam have an on-going requirement to recruit Distribution and Transmission Overhead Lines<strong> </strong>personnel, based in Great Britain.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Linespersons </span></strong></p>
<p> Experience of working on Low voltage to 132kV overhead lines</p>
<ul>
<li>An excellent safety record</li>
<li>Willing to work during emergency situations</li>
<li>Positive attitude to the job with the willingness to regard customer service as a top priority</li>
<li>Flexibility to work throughout Great Britain as required</li>
<li>Access to a form of transport to meet the requirements of the role</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Supervisors</span></strong></p>
<p> Supervisors must be able to demonstrate the above criteria for Linespersons and in addition possess:</p>
<ul>
<li>At least 2 years recent experience as a Supervisor, Chargehand or Linesperson working on LV to 132kV overhead Lines </li>
</ul>

<p>Powerteam will be attending the RenewableUK 2011 Annual Conference &amp; Exhibition in Manchester from 25th to 27th October 2011.</p>
<p>The 3 day event is RenewableUK&#8217;s 33rd annual conference and all technologies will be covered including Onshore Wind, Offshore Wind, Small Wind Systems, and Wave &amp; Tidal energy.</p>
