The Role

Reporting to the Technical Director, the overall purpose of the role is to provide an IT systems technical service to Powerteam users across the business. The IT Systems Technician is responsible for improving the general IT support throughout the company (including its Document Management System) and dealing with outsourced IT suppliers.

Main responsibilities:

Provide general IT backup, support and advice across all business sections, including Powerteam’s Document Management System (DMS), managing and escalating support processes with Powerteam’s external IT providers as required.

Carry out development work on DMS interfaces and workflows to improve and enhance business processes.

Give technical advice to the procurement team on hardware and software requirements, to ensure compatibility with existing assets.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

·         DMS issue troubleshooting, escalating and reporting issues raised by Powerteam users plus DMS administration, creating new Projects, Users and providing document delete and recovery services as required  

·         Support users on general IT issues, escalating as necessary

·         Development on communication methods and solutions to better support remote workers.

·         Performing monthly performance reporting to support capacity planning

·         Control the issue of electronic permissions and maintain a record of the current permission status

·         Provide DMS access to 3^rd parties by strict application of password policies and folder permissions

·         Maintain data backups and server administration.

·         Carry out pre-deployment testing of patches and updates within development environment

·         Installing and maintaining software updates periodically

·         Performing regular security monitoring

·         Control and update content on Intranet and Internet sites

·         Maintain IT asset register

·         Build a strong relationship with suppliers

·         Use the test & development environment to develop improvements and updates to presentation, views and workflows.

·         A third level qualification in Computer Science

·         Possess a minimum of 2 years relevant IT Systems experience.

·         Experience in CSS/HTML

·         Ability to learn new technologies and implement them successfully

• Be able to demonstrate that they have experience in providing support to non-finance departments.

 This position is based in our Belfast Head Office.

The position involves working as part of the Commercial team interfacing on a regular basis with the Operations, Finance and Engineering departments in addition to working directly with local project sites and Project / Site  Managers to ensure optimum delivery of projects.

Candidates must possess a third level qualification in Quantity Surveying with a minimum of at least two years post qualification experience preferably in a construction / utility environment with a civil engineering bias.

You will be required to be able to carry out all the following duties:

 1.      Report directly to the Powerteam Project Management

2.      Coordinate & manage Site Supervisors in the delivery of the following tasks:

·        Install/Replace conductors with 300mm2, 430mm2 & 600mm2 ACSR conductors

Reporting directly to the Finance and Commercial Director, the overall purpose of the role is to prepare detailed bid and tender submissions of a high value (£0.2m – £10m). 

Duties will include but are not limited to: 

• Responsible for the complete project pricing and tender preparation for turnkey (design, procure, install and commission) construction of new and refurbishment of existing electricity substations and overhead lines. 
• The post holder will work closely with our Overhead Lines and Substation Project Managers to agree required project manpower resource and with our Procurement Manager in respect of prices for required materials.
