<p>The Role</p>
<p>Reporting to the Technical Director, the overall purpose of the role is to provide an IT systems technical service to Powerteam users across the business. The IT Systems Technician is responsible for improving the general IT support throughout the company (including its Document Management System) and dealing with outsourced IT suppliers.</p>
<p><strong>Main responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p>Provide general IT backup, support and advice across all business sections, including Powerteam&#8217;s Document Management System (DMS), managing and escalating support processes with Powerteam&#8217;s external IT providers as required.</p>
<p>Carry out development work on DMS interfaces and workflows to improve and enhance business processes.</p>
<p>Give technical advice to the procurement team on hardware and software requirements, to ensure compatibility with existing assets.</p>
<p>Duties will include but are not limited to:</p>
<p>·         DMS issue troubleshooting, escalating and reporting issues raised by Powerteam users plus DMS administration, creating new Projects, Users and providing document delete and recovery services as required  </p>
<p>·         Support users on general IT issues, escalating as necessary</p>
<p>·         Development on communication methods and solutions to better support remote workers.</p>
<p>·         Performing monthly performance reporting to support capacity planning</p>
<p>·         Control the issue of electronic permissions and maintain a record of the current permission status</p>
<p>·         Provide DMS access to 3<sup>rd</sup> parties by strict application of password policies and folder permissions</p>
<p>·         Maintain data backups and server administration.</p>
<p>·         Carry out pre-deployment testing of patches and updates within development environment</p>
<p>·         Installing and maintaining software updates periodically</p>
<p>·         Performing regular security monitoring</p>
<p>·         Control and update content on Intranet and Internet sites</p>
<p>·         Maintain IT asset register</p>
<p>·         Build a strong relationship with suppliers</p>
<p>·         Use the test &amp; development environment to develop improvements and updates to presentation, views and workflows.</p>
<p><strong>Essential </strong></p>
<p>It is essential that the jobholder is a commercially focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role.  The jobholder must also:</p>
<p>·         A third level qualification in Computer Science</p>
<p>·         Possess a minimum of 2 years relevant IT Systems experience.</p>
<p>·         Experience in CSS/HTML</p>
<p>·         Working knowledge of SQL reports</p>
<p>·         Experience of remote access methods and issues</p>
<p>·         Have a high level of IT proficiency in MS Excel &amp; Word</p>
<p>·         Ability to learn new technologies and implement them successfully</p>
<p>·         Patience in working with Users</p>
<p>·         Excellent problem solving abilities.</p>
<p>·         Strong prioritization skills are necessary</p>
<p>·         Ability to communicate effectively with users at all levels</p>
<p>·         Can demonstrate previous experience working with minimum supervision</p>
<p>·         A demonstrable commercial awareness and business acumen with the high quality interpersonal and communication skills and pro active / flexible approach to succeed in this environment</p>
<p>·         A willingness to develop/grow within the role, taking on additional responsibilities and duties.</p>
<p>·         Have an ability to work on a self directed basis.</p>
<p>·         Excellent communication skills combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.</p>

<p>Reporting directly to the Finance and Commercial Director, the overall purpose of the role is to prepare detailed bid and tender submissions of a high value (£0.2m &#8211; £10m). </p>
<p>Duties will include but are not limited to: </p>
<ul>
<li>Responsible for the complete project pricing and tender preparation for turnkey (design, procure, install and commission) construction of new and refurbishment of existing electricity substations and overhead lines. </li>
<li>The post holder will work closely with our Overhead Lines and Substation Project Managers to agree required project manpower resource and with our Procurement Manager in respect of prices for required materials. </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential</strong></p>
<p> It is essential that the jobholder is a commercially focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role.  The jobholder must also possess: </p>
<ul>
<li>Strong understanding of MS Excel with demonstrable practical experience of using MS Excel to price projects. </li>
<li>Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.  </li>
<li>2 to 3 years minimum experience in an Estimator role. </li>
<li>HV electrical experience </li>
<li>Ability to work as part of a team, but also be able to work on their own. </li>
<li>Strong understanding of commercial terms and conditions and the impact they would have upon project delivery. Demonstrable experience in negotiation of terms and conditions. </li>
<li>Able to work to tight tender submission deadlines with minimum supervision and can demonstrate previous experience of working under pressure. </li>
<li>Logical and rational thinker. </li>
<li>Keen to develop/grow within the Estimator role, taking on additional supervisory/managerial responsibilities and duties. </li>
<li>Flexible based role with a limited amount of travel to pre-tender and post tender meetings throughout Ireland and Great Britain. </li>
<li>An ability to work closely and effectively with Powerteam management and the local project team to achieve challenging targets combined with an ability to work on a self directed basis. </li>
<li>Adaptability to succeed within a demanding business. </li>

<li>Assist with the submission of claims for works done to maximise cash flows.</li>
<li>Assist the Project Manager with the management of budgets and control of costs associated with the works location including timely delivery of financial and other progress data for the preparation of financial and other reports as directed by the Finance Department.</li>
<li>Assist in the preparation of project progress reports for periodic review with Customers as directed by the Project Manager</li>
<li>Assist with all HR related issues including disciplinary issues – at site level as required by the Project Manager.</li>

<p> <strong>The Individual</strong></p>
<p>It is essential that the jobholder is a commercially focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role.  The jobholder must possess:</p>
<p> <strong>Essential</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>3<sup>rd</sup> level education in a relevant technical / engineering related discipline  or alternatively substantial work experience from a relevant technical / engineering related discipline</li>
<li>Good understanding and practical experience of MS Excel and / or MS Project.</li>
<li>An understanding of safety and quality related issues.</li>
<li>Understanding of budget management.</li>
<li>Ability to plan works in a logical and efficient manner.</li>
<li>Ability to manage and motivate industrial employees and sub contractors.</li>
<li>Ability to put the customer at the centre of decision making.</li>
<li>Meet targets in a commercial environment. Able to work to tight tender submission deadlines with minimum supervision and can demonstrate previous experience of working under pressure.</li>
<li>Full driving licence and access to a form of transport to meet the job requirements.</li>
<li>Keen to develop/grow within the Project Management role, taking on additional responsibilities and duties.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.</li>
<li>Ability to work as part of a team, but also be able to work alone.</li>
</ul>
<p> <strong>Desirable</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>2 years minimum relevant work experience. </li>
<li>An understanding of HV electrical systems.</li>
</ul>
<p> <strong>General</strong></p>
<p> This is a flexible based role with frequent travel to site and attendance at project progress meetings as required throughout Great Britain and Ireland.</p>

<li>The exceptional delivery of Projects / Programmes of work to the highest standards of safety and quality within budget and on time.</li>

<li>The management and performance of Plant staff both on site and in administrative support roles to ensure optimum project delivery including the management of poor performance through defined procedures.</li>

<li>Commitment to continuous improvement through innovation and identification of best practises.</li>
